According to the latest news from Digitimes, TSMC’s 3-nanometer chip will begin mass production in the second half of 2022, with a monthly production capacity of 55,000 pieces. At the performance conference in October this year, TSMC said that 3nm process chips will be used in smart phones and high-performance computer platforms in 2022.

TSMC, the world's largest foundry, ranks third in the global semiconductor supplier rankings released by IC Insights in 2020, behind Intel and Samsung Electronics. On November 24, IC Insights released a report that although Samsung Electronics’ semiconductor sales were strong this year, it still lost to the leader Intel.

IC Insights estimates that Intel’s semiconductor revenue in 2020 is approximately US$73.894 billion, an annual increase of 4%, Samsung’s semiconductor revenue is approximately US$60.482 billion, and TSMC ranks third, with estimated revenue of US$45.42 billion in 2020. Followed by SK Hynix, Micron Technology, Qualcomm, Broadcom, and Nvidia. The seven top 15 semiconductor suppliers are expected to achieve a growth of more than 22% this year, NVIDIA is expected to achieve a huge growth of 50%, and Intel will maintain its ranking of the number one semiconductor supplier in 2020.

Samsung Electronics is the world's largest memory manufacturer. The company once surpassed Intel in semiconductor sales in 2017 and 2018. Among the top 15 semiconductor manufacturers on the list, eight are from the United States, two each from South Korea and Europe, and one Japanese company. In addition, IC Insights pointed out that this year the global economy has been affected by the epidemic and has suffered a sharp decline, but the epidemic has also accelerated the global digital transformation, driving strong growth in semiconductor market demand. It is estimated that the individual revenue of the world's top 15 semiconductor manufacturers will start at least 9.5 billion US dollars this year. The overall revenue will reach 355.418 billion US dollars, an annual increase of 13%, which is more than twice the growth rate of global semiconductor output.

TSMC benefited from Apple and HiSilicon’s customers and has strong demand for advanced processes such as 5nm and 7nm. This year’s revenue will reach US$45.42 billion, a 31% increase from last year. MediaTek and Super Micro, which ranked 16th and 18th respectively in 2019, saw their revenue this year increase by 35% and 41% respectively from last year, reaching 10.781 billion and 9.519 billion U.S. dollars. Their rankings have risen sharply and squeezed into the top 15 lists. Among them, MediaTek jumped to eleventh and Super Micro rose to 15th.
